2010 Western Tour
by Ryan Joyce on Aug.22, 2010, under News, Touring Life
We are nearing the completion of the western leg of the 2010 Tour. As usual things have been very busy and we’ve enjoyed returning to these cities for our 10th annual year.
The Ontario stretch of the tour is just a few weeks away so we hope to see some familiar faces.
Best,
Ryan

2 Comments :Random Show Pix more...It’s So Cold AND PICTURES FROM TOURS PAST.
by Ryan Joyce on Aug.29, 2009, under News, Pictures, Touring Life

It’s August 29th and it feels like late fall. Boooooo.
These pictures from the 2008 Western tour seemed like an bitter reminder appropriate fit. This was along highway 3 in British Columbia… Crowsnest Pass. I believe it was July… and there was snow on the pass. Not a huge surprise… we see it alot, but still pretty cool. (No pun intended)

This little chalet and lake was literally to the right of these frames. A beautiful stop.

Da Beach is Dat Way…
by Ryan Joyce on Aug.26, 2009, under News, Pictures, Touring Life

We are jumping for ice cream.
We try to have balance on tour. Balance…. trying to have as much misery fun on stage as we do off stage.
That’s why we make the most of our days off. One of my favs was definitely Vernon. We opted for an evening at the beach… and in the beautiful Okanagan Valley it was 40 degrees all week. Smoke’n hot.
Here are a few frames from our adventures at the beach.

Apparently we have a fascination with mustaches (see Mexican blog entry)

Fraser could have thrown that ball over the mountain.

This is an actual picture of Ogopogo (Canada's Loch Ness Monster)

By no means Ogopogo
Whadddyya Mean Big Trees?
by Ryan Joyce on Aug.14, 2009, under News, Pictures, Touring Life

Cathedral Grove / MacMillan Park
I don’t know what’s happened? We drive for 4 days straight… 54 hours and I haven’t done a blog update. Quiet frankly I haven’t done much other than play in ketchup catchup. Holy doodle. (PS: Whaddyya mean we haven’t heard a blog post from Andrew in over a month? Where’s Vic? hmmmmm……)
Our last show was in Port Alberni. Which I love. The theatre is great, Lyle the technician is always a real treat, and the drive is stunning.
I must have stopped at Cathedral Grove 1000 times (okay… slight exaggeration) Cathedral Grove/MacMillan park is home to some of the oldest trees in Canada. Which makes them pretty darn tall.
Anywho, if you haven’t experienced it I hope you enjoy the pics.

Jade was so overwhelmed she started wheeping. Okay … maybe she was just dodging the camera.

Heading to Vancouver Island
by Ryan Joyce on Aug.03, 2009, under News, Touring Life

We’ll we are on the home stretch now. Some 30+ shows down… 5 more shows, 3 cities for this phase of the tour.
The last few days have been hell exhausting
After two shows in Penticton we had two shows in Vancouver the next day with a 9am load-in. Immediately after the shows we jumped in the car and began the 5 hour trip.
Makes for a long day…
Sadly however there was a huge accident that closed the highway down for 3 hours. The hold up got us into Vancouver at 2:00am… by the time we checked in, and I booked the ferry trip that we are currently riding it was 3:00am. Nice… I was really hoping not to get any sleep
Anywho… we are on the boat now heading for Vancouver Island…
Best,
Ryan

Lost at sea….
by Ryan Joyce on Jul.29, 2009, under Fun, Pictures, Touring Life

Pirate Joycee .... arrrrrr
It has been a few days since a blog post… I bet you were wondering why?
We’ve been lost at sea. Meeerrrrrrr.
After a busy day in Kamloops, thanks to Matt, he arranged for a white water rafting adventure in the beautiful Adams River. Needless to say it was awful and we didn’t have any fun. :)
Yeah right! Totally cool. Actually its pretty damn hot … 40 degrees here all week.

We did have two casualties… Jade lost her shoe and I lost one of the eyes in my sunglasses. Oh well it was totally worth it! Not because we tipped, fell over board or even flipped. We got to do some cliff jumping.
Totally Awesome Day!
We are now in Vernon, BC… two shows tomorrow. Interesting enough our venue has moved three times … the last move occurred just yesterday because the building we are suppose to use is now being used for all the Forest Fire Evacuees.

Arena Show Setup in Time Lapse
by Ryan Joyce on Jul.23, 2009, under Fun, News, Touring Life
Thought this might be of interest… the kind of “behind the scenes” you never really get to see for our show setup. We are capable of performing in any environment… our setup is 4 hours in length with a tiny crew of six. We carry and own every piece of equipment from truss, support, sound, lighting, sound and special effects.
For a 1 hour and 30 minute show we do 6 hours of setup, tear down, load-in and load-out. As you will soon see a lot of work goes into making even the most challenging venues look suitable for a show like ours.
Enjoy.
Best,
Ryan
